"Rising Stars" Recital
Austin Organ Tour
On Thursday, October 14, 2021, members of the Westchester Chapter were treated to a tour of the Austin Organ Company in Hartford, CT with the opportunity to see the new instrument being prepared for the Reformed Church of Bronxville, NY. Floyd Higgins, Senior Design Engineer, took the group through the four floors of the factory where all aspects of organ building were seen, including the original custom milling machines developed by Austin more than 100 years ago which are still in use today. Voicing rooms for the pipe work were also seen. The group photo was taken on the first floor standing around the swell pipe work for the Bronxville project, Opus 2804. Choral Workshop
On Saturday, October, 23, 2021, John Lettieri shared choral accompaniment techniques from various musical eras on the beautiful Pasi tracker organ at Bedford Presbyterian Church. Members then went downstairs in the Sanctuary to the piano, where Richard Coffey and Jeffrey Hoffman offered a read-through and discussion of new anthems for small choirs.
Members' Recital
On Sunday, November 14, 2021, we gathered at Rye Presbyterian Church for our annual Members' Recital. Not only was it a treat to reconvene in-person, but we were also able to enjoy two Casavant Frères, Lte. pipe organs: No. 3942 (2020) in the renovated Crawford Chapel, and No. 3506 (1981) in the Sanctuary.
Performers were Tyrell Lundman, Christopher Fasulo, Max Carleton, Terence J. Flanagan, and Jason Charneski (also our host) playing works by Buxtehude, Dixon, Elgar, Grünberger, Hindemith, Langlais, Larson, Mendelssohn, Near, Sewell, Strayhorn and Widor. Click here to view the program. |
