Westchester County, NY, Sept. 23, a good crowd of organ devotees, coming from as far away as Fairfield Conn., were present at Mt. Kisco Presbyterian Church to hear two young rising stars in the organ world play works by Guilmant, Bach, Weaver, and Reger. Chris Yuejian Lee and Daniel Ficarri played on the 2008 III/53 Beckerath. Terry Flanagan, music director, hosted the event. Lee is the organ scholar at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale. He regaled us with a piece by his teacher, John Weaver, that showed off the instrument’s great versatility and depth of sound. Ficarri is the organ scholar at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle, N.Y.C. He studied with Paul Jacobs at the Juillard School, and his Bach piece was played effortlessly and made the church resonate to great effect. Afterward all marveled at the workings of the organ and were treated by member Frank Miller to a repast that surpassed royalty! -- Karen Longwell
